A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to an alleged associate of Manoj Bakkarwala, who is wanted for his alleged involvement in 100 thefts of luxury cars, and remanded the kingpin to 8 days judicial custody.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed the bail plea of Gurcharanpreet Singh who pleaded that the police had already recovered a stolen vehicle at his instance.

"Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case and that the accused was a young man and the vehicle had already been recovered by the police, I am of the opinion that the accused could be enlarged on bail," the court said.

In his bail application, Singh, arrested on July 13, submitted that he was a young man who had passed his class 12th examinations last year and had no criminal records.

The prosecution, on the other hand, opposed his plea stating that the accused and his associates had revealed that they had disposed off 18 stolen luxury cars which were supplied to them by Bakkarwala.

The court, however, allowed Singh's application, asking him to furnish a personal and a surety bond of Rs 30,000 as condition for bail. Meanwhile, Bakkarwala was produced before the court after 12 days in police custody and remanded him to judicial custody till August four.

Bakkarwala's two associates Ratan Singh and Surender Bhatt, who were arrested on Sunday, were also produced before the court and sent to judicial custody till August four.
