The Delhi high court is likely to pronounce its orders on Wednesday on the bail pleas of DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, accused in 2G-spectrum allocation scam case.

Justice Ajit Bharihoke, who had reserved his orders on May 30 after hearing detailed arguments on their bail applications, would pronounce his orders on at 10:30am.

Justice Bharihoke had recently dismissed bail pleas of five corporate honchos, including Unitech Group MD Sanjay Chandra and Reliance ADAG MD Gautam Doshi in the case, saying there were chances that they may influence witnesses.

Kanimozhi, the 43-year-old daughter of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, and Kumar were named by CBI for allegedly receiving a kick back to tune of R200 crore.

Both Kanimozhi and Kumar have 20% stake each in Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd which allegedly received R200 crore through a “circuitous” route from Shahid Balwa promoted DB Realty.

Cooler, less dusty cell for Morani

A special CBI court on Tuesday ordered Tihar jail officials to relocate Cineyug Films Director Karim Morani to a “cooler and less dusty” prison due to his frail health. Morani was arrested for his role in offloading R200 crore kickbacks to Kalaignar TV.

Special Judge OP Saini said, “Considering his (Morani) medical condition, jail superintendent is directed that he may be placed in a cell which is less dusty and comparatively cooler...”

Counsel for Morani said his client is suffering from heart ailment and other medical problems. He added Morani is facing problems due to dust in the jail and he be shifted to a different cell.

Meanwhile, Morani also filed an application seeking permission to sign documents pertaining to mutual funds and other bank documents. The court took Morani’s plea on records and asked CBI to respond to it.

Morani is lodged in jail since May 30 along with 13 other accused in the 2G scam.
