A city court has reinstated the CEO of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, who was sacked for exposing corruption in the hospital management.
The doctor alleged that he was asked to deliver confidential information regarding DNB (Diplomat of National Board) examination and also give his consent to purchase of low-grade medical equipment.
M.S. Gupta joined Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, as CEO in 2006.
Senior Civil Judge Vinod Yadav, citing Supreme Court judge P .Venugopal, former director of AIIMS said that the hospital management flouted the principles of natural justice. “Gupta was denied the opportunity to defend himself,” said the judge.
The court noted that Gupta did not permit the hospital management to interfere in the DNB admissions, as he was the ex-officio chairman of the selection board, and refused to part with confidential information.
“Nothing took place according to the clauses mentioned in the appointment letter,” said the judge.
The court said till the next hearing, the hospital management is restrained from taking charge of the post of CEO from the plaintiff, and further restrained to give effect to Gupta’s termination.
