The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Saturday arrested two employees of a private marketing firm for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Police have recovered 5kg of fine quality heroin from the possession of the arrested duo. The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Saidul Islam (25) and Maikel Sekh (21), both hailing from Murshidabad in West Bengal.
Sandeep Goel, joint commissioner of police (crime) said the arrest came following investigation into a tip-off received by the anti-extortion cell about the drug syndicate active in Delhi.
"During investigation it was learnt that members of the drug racket from Murshidabad supply heroin in huge quantity to small drug suppliers in the Capital," said Goel.
On Friday, the team received information that the said duo would come to deliver heroin to their customers near Nelson Mandela Marg in south Delhi's Munirka. Accordingly, a trap was laid and the duo was arrested. Police recovered 3kg heroin from Saidul and 2kg of the contraband from Sekh.
During interrogation it was revealed that Saidul works in a multi-level marketing firm - Rose Valley Chain Marketing in Kolkata — as a cover but mainly deals in supply of heroin from Murshidabad to Delhi.
