From taking them out for shopping and treating them to a sumptuous meal, three Gurgaon Police personnel went out all the way to make two dreaded criminals feel at home.

The shocking revelation came up during the interrogation of three police personnel from whose custody the criminals fled on April 2. The three policemen have been arrested and handed over to the Gurgaon Police.

“Three Gurgaon Police personnel from whose custody two dreaded criminals of Gurgaon had escaped on Monday had taken them to a Saket mall and then to Janakpuri for shopping,” a senior police officer said.

Sources said that the police personnel gave contradictory statements to the Delhi Police and couldn’t give a satisfactory answer as to why they went to Dwarka when they had to go to Gurgaon.

“After producing them in a Saket court in afternoon, they took them to MGF Mall and bought a pair of jeans for them. After that, they went to Janakpuri for some more shopping,” a senior police officer, who did not wanted to be named, said.

The two inmates of Bhondsi Jail of Gurgaon, Sandeep Chitaniya and Neetu, who have 12 cases of murder and dacoity registered against them, had come from Gurgaon along with three police personnel by Metro and when they were leaving the court, a Bolero car stopped and offered them a lift.

“The way they escaped from the police custody has raised questions on the role of the police personnel. Why they went for shopping to Saket and Janakpuri, why they took lift in a car in which three persons were already sitting, why they came to Dwarka when it was not on their route and why they did not fire at criminals when they were escaping,” the officer further said.

Sources said that the car had stopped 50 metres away from the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Sector 19, Dwarka.

“They requested the driver to stop the vehicle as they had to go to the toilet. After getting down, they snatched the gun of constable and other relevant papers and fled away in the vehicle,” he said.
