Cut-off marks set to dip in third list
The good news is that the cut-off marks may dip further in the third list though the drop is only between .50 per cent and 1 per cent, reports Anuradha Mukherjee.
The second admission list may have witnessed a drop in cut-off marks for popular courses like B.Com. Honours and Economics Honours in a few colleges. The good news is that the cut-off marks may dip further, even if the drop this time may be only between .50 per cent and 1 per cent. Colleges like Hindu, Indraprastha, Miranda, Kirori Mal and Ramjas are all set to declare a third cut-off list in various subjects. At Hindu and Indraprastha, a third list is likely to be declared for B.Com. Honours.
“Third list is expected in B.Com. Honours, English, Political Science and Philosophy. Admission to History is already closed. We also may not have a third list for Sociology, Economics, Math, Hindi and B.A. Programme. All Science courses, other than Physics, will remain open,” said Kavita Sharma, Hindu College Principal.
Sharma added that there might be a marginal drop in the cut-off for B.Com. Honours. At Indraprastha, a third list is expected in courses like B.Com. Honours, Sanskrit and Psychology. “Everything will depend on withdrawals,” said Manasvini Yogi, media co-ordinator for Indraprastha College. At Miranda House, however, a third list is expected only for Hindi and Sanskrit.
“We have conducted 903 admissions against 684 seats, 59 of which have withdrawn. We still have 844 students with us. We may get more withdrawals after the third list if other colleges drop their cut-off marks,” said Pratibha Jolly, Miranda House Principal. Jolly said she expected things to stabilise only by August-end when admissions for engineering colleges finish.
“We will know the final situation once engineering admissions get over when students will even opt for professional courses like dentistry, B.Pharma and Physiotherapy. The whole first term is in a state of flux,” said Jolly.
