Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs met Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin to demand the immediate removal of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in wake of her indictment by the Shunglu Committee and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for alleged irregularities in the Commonwealth Games.
The 24 Delhi MLAs, led by leader of the Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra, met the Lokayukta at his office and requested him to take suo moto cognisance of the detailed reports compiled by the two investigating agencies.
"The BJP has also promised to give Lokayukta more details on the issue," said a senior official in the Lokayukta office.
The party has launched a massive tirade against the Delhi government ever since the Prime Minister-appointed Shunglu Committee and CAG made their reports public. While it disrupted the proceedings of five-day monsoon session in the house, senior leaders took to the streets demanding immediate action against Dikshit.
"Despite the two reports clearly blaming the Delhi government for massive irregularities, both the city government and the central government have kept mum on it. The chief minister should have resigned from her post," said an MLA who was part of the delegation.
The CAG report indicted Sheila-government for irregularities in Delhi’s street lighting, street-scaping signage, bus Q shelters and for purchasing plants from various agencies rather than growing them in its own nurseries.
