Adding ammunition in their war against the UPA, the opposition leaders have turned on the heat on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for removing Jaipal Reddy from petroleum ministry allegedly under corporate pressure.
After BJP's Jaswant Singh's statement on Wednesday seeking clarification on why Reddy was shifted, CPI veteran Gurudas Dasgupta shot a letter to the PM on Thursday alleging corporate influence on cabinet reshuffle.
"I am raising a specific question that Reliance Industries Ltd had a role in the removal of petroleum minister Jaipal Reddy," Dasgupta wrote in a letter. Reddy was shifted to the ministry of science and technology and Earth
Sciences in the cabinet reshuffle last week.
