A week after a highly decomposed body of a 25-year-old married woman was found in her apartment in Rohini, police have traced her four-year-old daughter, who had been missing since the incident.
The police said that the woman's husband — Krishna Rao — and daughter were missing and Rao is being considered the prime suspect.
"Krishna was always the main suspect. As initial investigations had suggested, after killing his wife on December 11, he fled away with their daughter. Now, we have found that he had left his daughter at a relative's place in Bihar. A team has been sent there to rescue the girl and collect more details about Krishna," a senior police officer requesting anonymity said.
On December 21, decomposed body of Menka Rao was found in a flat in Jhuley Lal apartments in Sector 16 of Rohini. The police said that her parents had lodged a missing complaint on December 17. But since the last they spoke to her was on December 11, they suspect the murder took place the same day.
"The girl will be handed over to Menka's parents and we are suspecting that Krishna is also somewhere in Patna. He is also wanted in a rape case in Prashant Vihar," the officer added.
The body had been sent for the post mortem examination and the police have found bruises on the upper part of Menka's body. Her parents have alleged that Krishna was harassing her for dowry.
"We are trying to trace Krishna, who runs a placement agency. He had taken a loan and we found a bank notice pasted outside the house," the officer added.
Menka's parents live in Adarsh Nagar in northwest Delhi. Krishna and Menka got married five years ago.
A case has been registered at the KN Katju Marg police station and further investigations are on.
