Blaming incessant rains of playing spoilsport, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit extended the deadline — for the third time — of removal of debris from construction sites of Commonwealth Games projects.
The deadline of completion of projects has been moved forward a second time.
"If rain stops, then we should be able to complete all the work by September 10," Dikshit said on Friday.
"Otherwise we will have to extend the deadline. But we are confident we will be able to finish everything before October 3."
Dikshit had originally set August 10 as the deadline for removal of debris and August 31 as the final date for completion of all projects.
She then extended the deadline of removal of debris to August 31. She had also said all construction work would be completed by the first week of September.
But with rains posing tough challenges to engineers working on road, flyover and streetscaping projects, Dikshit now said construction might continue even when the athletes and delegates start reaching Delhi mid-September.
