People who stand up for transparency in public life such as Anna Hazare, Aruna Roy, Nelson Mandela, Julian Assange, Edward Snowden are the real heroes and the global village of 2047 would be stripped of secrets, noted environmentalist Madhav Gadgil said while delivering 15 DS Borker memorial lecture in Delhi on Saturday.

Gadgil, a former National Advisory Council member, said "by then we will make a transition from today's flawed representative form towards a direct, a completely participatory democracy".

He said that Indians by 2047 will benefit from access to decentralized solar energy and access to relevant information as the world was fast moving towards quicker flow of information.
