The city witnessed yet another hot and humid day on Saturday as the maximum temperatures touched 40.6 degrees, three degrees above normal. The minimum temperature, too, was high at 31.2 degrees, also three degrees above normal. Humidity oscillated between 31% and 68%.
While Sunday is also expected to see high temperatures and humidity, Monday will see the second spell of monsoon rains, bringing down the temperatures.
The temperatures in the city had come down drastically last week, though the respite lasted only four days. The city has been reeling under above normal temperature since Thursday.
“Since the monsoon landed in the city two weeks in advance, we saw heavy rains and a sudden drop in temperature. On Sunday, a cloudy sky is expected along with above normal temperatures. The rains are set to return on Monday,” the weatherman said.
The maximum temperature on Friday too was high at 41 degrees Celsius.
“The early monsoon was such a relief and we were able to finally switch off the air conditioners but the last few days have spelled their return. The weather is worse because it is more humid than earlier. The high temperatures is making life difficult,” said Kanika Sud, a resident of Vasant Vihar. Weatherman said, the temperature on Sunday will be between 39 degrees and 29 degrees.
