With victims of the Delhi High Court blast complaining of inadequate medical attention, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday ordered that funds and expertise required for treating the injured would be provided by the government.
The direction from Singh came after an assessment carried out by his principal secretary T K A Nair following complaints from some patients that the treatment was not adequate.
In the wake of such complaints, the Prime Minister had deputed Nair to carry out the assessment, PMO sources said.
Nair presented his assessment to the Prime Minister, they said.
The death toll in Wednesday's blast outside the Delhi High Court on Thursday rose to 12 with one of the victims succumbing to injuries at a hospital in New Delhi.
A high intensity briefcase bomb ripped through the crowded reception area in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday in which 75 people were injured in the blast.
