The mercury was at a minimum of 6.5 degree Celsius, up by 0.1 degrees from Friday, Saturday morning which is one degree below normal temperature at this time of year, the Indian Meteorological Department said in New Delhi.
The season's lowest temperature of 6.4 degree Celsius was recorded on Friday.
The MeT department predicted another colder day for the denizens with maximum and minimum temperature hovering around 23 and seven degree Celsius respectively.
"Current meteorological analysis suggest that there will be no significant change in minimum temperature in the next two-three days," a senior MeT Department official said.
According to the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), the minimum temperature will be around eight degree Celsius for the next three days.
While the maximum for Sunday is predicted at 22 degrees, the NCMRWF said, the minimum will be eight degrees. On December 29 and 30, the minimum will be nine and eight degree Celsius respectively while the maximum will be 21 and 22 degrees respectively.
Compared to last December, it is more warmer this time with minimum hovering above five degrees Celsius. Last year, many days in December witnessed minimum temperature plummeting below five degree Celsius.
Last year, the coldest day in December was recorded on 29th when mercury dipped to 3.9 degree Celsius. The coldest day for the month was recorded on December 26, 1945 when the minimum temperature was 1.1 degrees.
