Even the car of Delhi Assembly's deputy speaker is not safe from car thieves.

Ambarish Singh Gautam's Mahindra Bolero was stolen from outside his son's residence in east Delhi on Sunday.

The police said the sport utility vehicle was parked in Khichripur Colony, Ghazipur, at 10.30pm on Saturday after his sons took it for an outing.

Gautam, who represents Kondli constituency, said that he had bought the SUV four months ago on a bank loan. “My son, who stays on the first floor of the building, took it on Saturday night to go out with family. He had parked the vehicle near the building,” said Gautam. “One of the neighbours claimed he saw the vehicle around 5.30am.”

Four months ago, an SUV belonging to Mahabal Mishra, MP from west Delhi, was carjacked by armed assailants. The police later recovered the vehicle from Rajasthan.
