According to officials, the building plans of the building were approved by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation in June.
The police arrested the owner of the plot who was supervising the construction work and registered a case of negligence against him.
Many cases of building collapse have been reported in the city recently. Three days ago, a 51-year-old man was killed and his wife injured when a partially demolished “illegal” building collapsed in Okhla area in south Delhi.
On June 28, 10 people, including five children, were killed after a 50-year-old apartment block with 14 occupants collapsed in a congested locality in Tulsi Nagar area of Inderlok.
Political parties and experts have blamed lax implementation of building laws for the repeated accidents.
