The Delhi government on Wednesday said it was doubtful if various agencies would be able to meet Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s August 31 target to complete all Games related projects.

After visiting the Yamuna Sports Complex, Finance Minister AK Walia said he had doubts if the venue would be ready by August 31.

A swimming pool is being constructed here for sportspersons to train.

“We are not satisfied with the progress of work. They (the construction agencies) are saying all the works will be completed before the deadline. But there are doubts,” Walia told reporters.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is constructing the swimming pool complex and also upgrading infrastructure and other sports facilities at complex.

Dikshit has deputed Walia to take stock of works in east Delhi being done by the DDA, the MCD and the Public Works Department.

With a little over two months left, Dikshit has ordered various agencies to work through the night to finish all works as soon as possible.

The elevated road project over the Barapullah Nallah, between Sarai Kale Khan and the Jawaharlal Nehru

Stadium, as well as various streetscape works have been delayed.

The government has threatened to blacklist contractors and fine them if work is not over by August.
