A 15-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by a man in Delhi after she refused his proposal to be in a relationship with him.
The accused attacked the girl with a knife outside her residence in Palam Vihar area on Saturday.
The accused identified as Lallan Khan has been arrested, police said.
Khan, a factory worker, knew the girl for the past three years and was a tenant in her house. He was recently asked to vacate the house after he allegedly started harassing the girl.
Khan was turned down by the girl every time he proposed her.
On Saturday evening, Khan went to girl’s house again and asked her to come out. He also proposed to her to be in a relation with him and when she refused, he allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked her on her cheek in full public view, police said.
After the incident, locals held the accused and thrashed him.
They called up the police and handed him over to them, following which he was arrested under attempt to murder and other charges.
The girl is admitted in a hospital and she is out of danger, police added.
