Ten days after the body of a 45-year-old man was found with two bullet marks in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar , the police arrested four persons for the murder.

Sagar, who spent eight years in jail for the murder, and his friends — Faim Ahmed, Faim Ahmed Mohammad Imran and Nawabuddin Malik — allegedly robbed `4 lakh from Rakesh Prasad at gunpoint and when he tried to resist the bid, they shot him dead.

The incident happened on July 2 when Prasad was returning home from his mobile recharge shop in Krishna Nagar. The police recovered `2.68 lakh, a county-made pistol and cartridges from the accused.

During questioning, Sagar told the police that he wanted to give up his criminal life and settle down after marrying the woman he loved but he did not have enough resources. He told the police that he planned the last robbery of his career as a criminal, very meticulously, but had to open fire as the man resisted the robbery bid.

On July 2, a passerby made a PCR call saying a man was lying bleeding beside his motorcycle near the ganda nala in Krishna Nagar. The police reached the spot and took Kumar to Hedgewar hospital.

Postmortem examination revealed that he was shot twice in the abdomen. Two teams were then constituted and information regarding local criminals was developed.

“We sought help from the local intelligence and took clues from the CCTV footage we accessed from different locations. During investigation, we found that five men had been trailing Prasad from his mobile shop. We developed the information and identified the suspects. Technical surveillance was mounted and their location was traced,” DCP east, Rishi Pal said.
