The Delhi police are looking for a family of five who have cheated over 800 people of Rs. 5 crore by promising them to double their money.

Police said that five persons had formed a company and used to visit various parts of Haryana to lure people. A resident of Hisar had recently approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police, who have started the investigation.

"The complainant told us that the accused would visit Hisar and other areas of Haryana frequently and lure people to invest in real-estate deals. The accused had met the complainant several times and convinced him to invest Rs. 60 lakh in his company. They promised him that the amount would be doubled in 20 months, 10 percent of which would be paid to me each month," a senior police officer said.

The accused used to take investors to various seminars to impress them. In this way, they cheated more than 800 people of Rs. 5 crore, police said.

Police said that the accused did not pay tax to government and in a way cheated the tax department too.
