Hundreds of residents of the Capital’s villages, unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters and resettlement colonies on Sunday held a massive rally.

The rally was held under the leadership of Nationalist Congress Party election committee chairman Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and party corporators Dharamvir Awana, Jeewan Lal, Chandraprakash, Phoolkali Narwal, Shikha Shah and Timsi Kasana.

The protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar at about 11am and started to proceed towards the residence of chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

However, the rally was stopped at Ashoka Road by the Delhi Police and only a delegation led by Bidhuri was allowed to meet the chief minister and urban development minister Arvinder Singh and submit a memorandum at their residences.

The promises made by the Delhi government to the residents of villages, unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters and resettlement colonies should be fulfilled without any delay, the memorandum demanded.
