Schools from the Delhi/NCR region featured prominently among the most sustainable and environmentally conscious in the country, with 11 schools honoured by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE)'s annual Green Schools Awards presented on Friday.

Out of 21,000 schools from across the country that are part of CSE's green schools programme (GSP), 36 were awarded for their efforts in adopting green practices to safeguard the environment.

Of the eleven schools from Delhi region, five were honoured in the national category while others won the Delhi/NCR awards.

The awards were given in three categories: new schools (those who have joined the GSP program this year), changemakers (those who have participated before) and best managers.

Father Agnel School, Gautam Nagar won the first prize in the Delhi/NCR region in the changemaker category.

In the new schools category, DAV Public School Gurgaon bagged the first prize in the Delhi/NCR region.
