Delhi shivers at 4.9 degree Celsius, morning fog to return

Saturday turned out to be the coldest day of the season for the National Capital with the mercury settling at 4.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal for this time of the year.

The maximum temperature, however, was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, which was a notch below normal. Saturday was chilly but the sky was clear for most part of the day as cold winds swept across the city.

The city also witnessed traces of rainfall in last 24 hours. The humidity level was recorded at a maximum of 97 per cent and minimum of 42%.

The Met department predicted mainly clear skies for Sunday also, with the possibility of shallow to moderate fog in the morning.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 19 and 5 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, trains coming into Delhi continued to be affected due to dense fog in parts of north India, and as per the Northern Railway, 22 trains were running behind schedule.

Friday had seen light rains and a cloudy sky as the maximum temperature dropped four notches below the season’s average at 17.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded a notch below the season’s average at 6.5 degrees Celsius.
