The maximum temperature on Wednesday rose by over two degrees in the national capital but remained below the 40-degree Celsius mark for the third consecutive day.
The mercury rose to touch 39.6 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's 37.5 degrees while the minimum was 25.8 which saw an increase of 1.8 degrees, the MeT Department said.
The weatherman has predicted a clear sky for the next 24 hours with maximum temperature likely to be around 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum 24 degrees.
The month of May began with a sizzling 44.2 degrees Celsius, the season's highest.
In the past 10 years, the month of May has recorded maximum above 44 degree Celsius five times.
The record for the past 10 years was 46 degrees Celsius which was recorded on May 19, 2002.
