Delhi: Thieves in undergarments strike, steal jewellery, cash, Diwali gifts
Dressed in their undergarments, a gang of four stole gold jewellery, cash, clothes and sweets from a house in Outer Delhi’s Pooth Khurd village in the early hours on Friday.
The thieves were caught on the CCTV installed at the house.
The footage shows the gang whispering among themselves and pointing towards a white door. One of them takes out gloves so that they leave no fingerprints.
Other men are seen guarding the door, patrolling the verandah. Later they cover their faces with a handkerchief.
Among the loot are 350 grams of gold, Rs 4 lakh in cash, clothes and sweets.
They also took away four more boxes with them, said Dharamvir Dabas. He works in a government hospital. He and his brother Sukhbir Dabas, who works in a bank, were sleeping when the incident occurred.
Dharamvir said that four men are seen entering the house after breaking a window. Four men are seen in the footage, which have been handed over to police, he said.
“The thieves also took the Diwali gifts, including sweets the family had got from friends and relatives,” the officer said.
Following the complaint, a case was registered in the matter and the investigation taken up.
“We accessed CCTV footage. They thieves can be seen in the house. We have identified the men and sought help from local intelligence to trace them. We hope to arrest them soon,” the officer said.
