Delhi Police arrested on Saturday a baker and his brother for allegedly murdering a four-year-old boy in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony. Police said that the accused had murdered the minor because he had scratched the bakery counter of the accused.

Police said that the accused Mohammed Ilyas and Mohammed Ikrar, thrashed the minor brutally because he had scratched the counter of his bakery with a stone.

“Ilyas slapped him so hard that the child fell unconscious and sustained serious injuries on his head,” said a police official.

Soon after the incident, Ilyas locked the child inside the rack of the counter and closed it to teach him a lesson, but the child succumbed to injuries, said police.

“When he found out that the child had died, Ilyas along with his brother Ikrar, dumped the body in an abandoned place,” said a police official.

The body of the minor was found disposed near an abandoned site in Geeta Colony inside a gunny sack on Thursday, a day after he went missing from outside his house.

During investigation, it was found that the child was last seen near the bakery. The bakery owners, Mohd Iliyas and Mohd Ikrar, were apprehended by the police for questioning.
