A 24-year-old truck driver was allegedly beaten to death while resisting a robbery attempt in outer Delhi on Monday night.

Police said the incident was reported from Samaypur Badli when Aasif and his helper Shahrukh were the area in their paper roll-laden truck around midnight.

“After parking his truck, Aarif stepped out to relieve himself on a tree by the roadside,” said an officer. While returning, he saw four men armed with sticks assaulting Shahrukh and rushed to help him.

A violent scuffle ensued during which Aarif was seriously injured and was declared dead at a hospital later. Shahrukh was stated to be out of danger but admitted for treatment.

“The gang seems to have been the same which has been targeting several truckers in the area for some time. A team has been formed to identify, trace and nab them,” the officer added.
