Delhiites fake identity, pay bribe to park their cars
Recently, a man impersonated a doctor just to park his car inside a city hospital. And clearly, he’s not the only one. Here are a list of things Delhiites will do just to get a parking spo
Delhi’s traffic and parking problem just keeps getting worse with no solution in sight. Apparently, Delhiites have their own innovative ways to deal with it. Recently, a 35-year-old man was caught by police for allegedly posing as a doctor at AIMS, all for a free parking spot, apparently. and we tell you, he isn’t alone. Several in the Capital are working their imagination on saving the parking fee. From using fake press, police and army stickers, to bribing residential society guards around markets, there’s a lot they are doing.
“ I stay near Hauz Khas village. Many party goers don’t want to take their cars inside the village (where there are pubs and restaurants) because its too expensive to park there and also congested. So, they bribe the watchman of our colony, who allows them to park inside. It is really annoying for the residents for they take our parking space and it isn’t safe either”, says Raghav Bindal, 27, businessman.
And here’s a tip from the horse’s mouth. “You have to wait in queues to get your car to the alloted parking area. And during peak hours, there might not be space. So, pay the nearby society guard Rs 50, and chill,” says Nikhil Sharma (name changed ).
“I have got blue and red sticker on my bike, parking attendants don’t even ask for parking fee from me, because they think it is a police vehicle. I look also hata kata so they assume I must be a policeman,” says Nitin Tyagi, 28.
And that’s not all. Joginder Singh,32, parking attendant who works at NDMC authorised parking says, “We get into arguments with people who use fake stickers for free parking. Sometimes, they will name the company that rents bulk space for its employees from us, even if they don’t work there. So we have to be really alert.”
