In keeping with times, luxury is the new priority among the new oustation students of Delhi University. While seeking PG accommodation in the campus, they are very sure about their necessities. Internet connections, airconditioned rooms, wellequipped gym, smooth transport facility are a few of the ‘needs'.
Srija Nagpal, who has come from Hyderabad, admits, "I don't want to bring any change in my lifestyle. I need a room with internet and AC. Money is not an issue." The college authorities confess that even though many have applied for hostels, a large chunk has taken up PG accommodation even before the list of the candidates could be announced.
Sneha Sinha, who cleared admission as well as the hostel list in Miranda House, says "I have to prepare for CAT along with my course. My coaching schedule doesn't gel with the hostel deadline. So I have no other choice than to go for a private lodge."
Pratibha Jolly, Principal, Miranda House, sums it best: "Hostels have limited seats and quotas. And we can't provide the hi-tech facilities and luxury which is very much available in the private alternatives."
