As many as 80 shops — teh bazari units later converted into pucca shops in unauthorised manner — were razed down at Azad Market on Rani Jhansi Road in north Delhi on Tuesday.

These shops, including those selling crackers, were demolished by the Sadar Paharganj zone authorities of the MCD to pave way for an upcoming flyover on the road.

MCD officials said the shopkeepers were given alternative accommodation in north Delhi and were also served notice about demolition.
