Failing to secure good marks in exams has led to another suicide in the city.
An 18-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his relative’s house in New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi on Sunday evening. He was unhappy with his performance in Class XII CBSE exams.
Police said the incident took place around 8:00 p.m. in E Block area in New Kondli, where the deceased was staying with his maternal aunt and uncle.
Police said Sachin Kumar was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a room.
“The relatives said Sachin was under depression since his results were declared. Sachin was not satisfied with the marks he secured in the exams. After finding him hanging from the fan, his relatives immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said a senior police officer, who did not give his name as he is not authorized to speak to media.
He added that the boy's body has been handed over to his relatives after the post mortem examination, which was conducted at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital on Monday.
Sachin reportedly had been staying with his aunt and uncle as he was studying at Senior Secondary Boys Government School in Khichdipur.
Sachin’s father Bharat Singh stays in Ghaziabad along with other family members.
