Two women, including a 40-year-old mother of five children, ended their lives in separate incidents reported from the Capital since Sunday night, police said.

In the first incident, one Shehzadi allegedly committed suicide in mysterious circumstances northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas area after her husband lost his job.

The second incident was reported from northwest Delhi.

Savita, a newly wed teenager, took the extreme step of ending her life because she was depressed over her health condition.

"Shehzadi was found hanging at her Khajuri Khas residence late Sunday night and her husband Sayeed is on the run," said a senior police officer.

According to police, the victim's husband, Sayeed, had recently lost his job because of which the family was under tremendous financial strain for some time.

"Yesterday, the couple had an argument over something trivial, forcing her to take the extreme step. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead," the officer said.

Meanwhile, police said they were investigating allegations of Sayeed's "attempting to force Shehzadi into flesh trade”.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters and a case has been registered at the Khajuri Khas Police Station. Investigations are under way.

In another similar incident, reported from outer Delhi's Prem Nagar area, 19-year-old Savita, who was married just seven months ago, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence.

"According to her family, Savita had been under depression for sometime due to her failing health," said a senior police officer.

Savita, police said, had married one Jitender last September. When questioned, he told police that she was not well and was under depression due to her illness.

A case has been registered at the Aman Vihar Police Station and investigations are under way.
