The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday issued a new order allowing developmental activities to continue under non-plan heads.
On Thursday, MCD councillors panicked after an order said no new proposals/concurrence will be sanctioned under the non-plan head of account.
Leader of the House Subhash Arya said councillors can continue developmental works in their areas. He said the circular issued on December 9 regarding non-sanction of new proposals under non-plan heads has been kept in abeyance.
“The upkeep and maintenance of roads, construction of roads/footpaths, development work of urbanised villages and construction of urban and village roads will continue,” he said.
On Thursday, chairman of the works committee Jagdish Mamgain had said the MCD engineer-in-chief had withdrawn funds for roads, footpaths streetlights and maintenance works under commissioner KS Mehra's orders.
The commissioner had taken the step without consulting the political wing of MCD.
