‘Dhamaka Baba’ in police net

This criminal made his presence felt with a bang, literally. He is so good at making explosives that his friends call him ‘Dhamaka Baba’.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police have arrested a proclaimed offender, who has expertise in making crude bombs and is involved in several cases in various states, including the Capital.

A team led by ACP LN Rao arrested the accused Avdesh Singh. “Singh was apprehended for his alleged involvement in an armed dacoity at an Indian Oil Petrol Pump in Motihari, Bihar on December 27, 2010. He had spent seven years in Tihar Jail and was a proclaimed offender in another case in Delhi,” said Arun Kampani, DCP (Special Cell).

The police said that Singh is allegedly a master bomb-maker. “He is an expert at making crude bombs. That’s why his friends call him Dhamaka Baba,” added Kampani.

“While five of his associates were arrested in the armed dacoity case, he had been on the run,” Kampani added.

Police officials added that during this dacoity, they also exploded two crude bombs, in which three people were hurt.

Dhamaka Baba is involved and wanted in cases of dacoity, attempt to murder, Arms Act and Explosive Act in Bihar. Police sources said once

Singh was jailed for stealing a cellphone recharge coupon in Bihar.

“After he was released from jail, he went back to the same shop and tried to kill the mobile shop owner,” said Kampani.

Singh has been involved in six criminal cases in Delhi.
