We tell you what these known faces from the city feel about Friendship Day and what are their plans for today
Ajay Chhikara, 24
President, Delhi University Students’ Union
Plans: I will be meeting all my friends on Friendship Day and we will go somewhere nice to spend some time together. Also, I will be putting up volunteers all across the campus. It often happens that some troublemakers try to create problems on special days such as these and our volunteers will ensure that nothing of this sort happens.
Best Friend: Apoorav Chaudhary
One fond memory: During election time, Apoorav had broken his hand and it was very upsetting. I had asked him then to stop campaigning, but he had refused and said, “I will only stop after you have become the President”. This is one memory that I can never forget.
Tarun Singhal, 28
Theatre actor
Best Friend: Harpreet Singh
One fond memory: Harpreet was the production controller at our theatre company and it was fun hanging out with him. Since he has changed his profession and does not put up in Delhi anymore, I will surely miss him.
Plans: I never knew that such a day even existed until some time back. Most of my close friends have now settled out of Delhi, so an ideal Friendship Day for me would be to meet them and have a nice time together at one of our favourite hangout places. I feel that all my close buddies are my best friends, with whom I like to celebrate this day.
Ashish Chauhan, 24
Drummer with band Nasya
Plans: While I was in school, my entire gang of friends used to hangout at this place called Anandvan near Surajkund every year. From the last few years and ever since I have joined the music scene, I sit with my buddies from school, college and music fraternity and have a fun evening together. We chat, play music and eat loads of good stuff.
Best Friend: Tanu Dogra
One fond memory : She is the person whom I consider my best friend. I love to hangout with her. Since she promotes music and artists in the city, we have many fond memories to share from our live gigs.
Best Friend: Neha Sabharwal
One fond memory: My fondest memory of Neha has been as a kid buying friendship bands and tying it to her with a note on the side and then going to Nirula’s with her and other friends for a hot chocolate fudge.
Bhumika Grover, 30
Designer
Plans: My plans for this year’s Friendship Day is to meet my best friend over lunch. We then plan to buy each other a gift, a ritual we have been doing for the last 13 years. Our day usually ends with a nice cup of coffee in the evening. In all, it’s always a day well spent. Last year, we went to the Big Chill cafe and I gifted her an outfit from my collection.
Rohit Gupta, 26
Artist of Delhi-based duo Manil Rohit
Plans: Friends are like oxygen, you need them 24x7, 365 days a year. Me and my friends are sure we will someday realise our dream of staying together forever. For us, it’s Friendship Day everyday. This Sunday, we are planning to go on a long drive on our newly created artwork, the Holographic Love Machine, which is actually a motor vehicle turned into an art piece. We are planning to take the Jaipur highway.
Best Friend: Anuranjan Sethi
One fond memory : My most memorable day with Anuranjan was last year, when he, along with my other friends surprised me with a quickly planned trip to Rishikesh on the weekend. Such are friends!
