A dismissed sub-inspector (SI) was arrested in west Delhi for allegedly murdering his domestic help who was working for his family for past 15 years.
The police said Azad Singh, the dismissed SI, had allegedly beaten his servant to death. The accused had murdered the victim Ganga Singh on June 16 and has been absconding since then. The victim was friendly with his wife and he suspected they had an illicit relationship.
Singh was arrested from Tikri Border on Wednesday evening on a tip off when he came there to meet some one.
Deputy commissioner of police (west) Sharad Aggarwal said, “He was recruited as a sub-inspector in 1977 and was dismissed in 2004 for anti-departmental activities. Since then, he has been indulging in property related disputes.”
The eyewitness Heera Lal, a security guard of the apartment where Singh stays in Vikaspuri, told police that the accused had beaten up his servant. On being quizzed, Singh informed police that his servant had lately become friendly with his wife. This led to frequent quarrel between the couple.
“On June 15, the couple had a heated argument over the issue. It was then that he decided to kill Ganga,” Aggarwal said.
The next day when his wife Kushlata Kadyan and son went out, Singh allegedly murdered Ganga by hitting on his head.
