NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has gone global, with its consultancy wing now helping cities in other countries in the construction of their metro networks.
DMRC is currently helping Jakarta (Indonesia) and Dhaka (Bangladesh) in coming up with their own Metro systems.
Back home, the corporation is helping cities like Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata in either construction of new metro networks or improving their existing ones.
“DMRC has completed Special Assistance on Project Implementation study for the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit System in Indonesia. DMRC, in 2012, was also awarded the work of ‘Management Consulting Services’ for the first phase of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit System,” said a spokesperson.
DMRC is also acting as a project consultant for the Dhaka Metro where it is helping in the preparation of specification and manuals, taking care of safety and health aspects, traffic integration and framing operation and maintenance rules.
According to DMRC officials, first consultancy assignment for them was Jaipur Metro. “DMRC has built a 9.25 km long Metro corridor (Pink Line) in Jaipur under Phase 1A,” the spokesperson added.
