A 16-year-old domestic help, working at the house of a retired judge, was found dead under mysterious circumstances outside her employer's flat in Jhulelal Apartments of northwest Delhi's Saraswati Vihar late Monday morning.
The deceased, identified as Poonam, lived with her family in Shakurpur area near Rani Bagh.
While the family members of the girl are alleging that she was murdered, police said the autopsy report of the victim and the forensic report can only help them ascertain the exact cause of death. The police have also decided to get the post mortem examination of the victim's body done by a panel of doctors.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim either fell down accidentally from the third floor lobby of the building or she committed suicide. A senior officer said that they have not ruled out the possibility of foul play in the incident.
A police officer said that Poonam was working as a maid at the house of the retired judge for the last three months. The incident came to light after they received a PCR call from a private hospital in Pitampura.
"A team reached the hospital and learnt that she was found unconscious on the ground by the driver of the retired judge. He immediately informed his employer. She was rushed to the private hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival," said the officer, adding that the victim's employer lived on the same floor of the building.
According to the officer, the victim's employer told them that Poonam went in the lobby for some work and they don't know what happened to her after that.
