Buoyed by rising interest from viewers and advertisers in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, official broadcaster Doordarshan is hopeful of meeting its revenue targets. The broadcaster, which had revised its advertisement revenue target to Rs 100 crore from Rs 200 crore from the Games, has hiked the ad rates for the closing ceremony to Rs 2.5 lakh for a ten seconds spot, compared with Rs 90,000 for the opening ceremony.
"Due to negative publicity before the event, people were earlier reluctant to book spots for the CWG. Now, after the spectacular opening ceremony, we have lots of people coming in for advertisements," Doordarshan Director General Aruna Sharma said.
Asked if DD is confident of meeting revenue targets, she said: "Let's see. The way things are at the moment, we are very positive."
