Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said though the integrity of DMRC chief E Sreedharan was impeccable, the series of incidents involving the Delhi Metro construction had raised doubts which should be quickly dispelled.
"The integrity of DMRC chief is impeccable and his work is a matter of pride for the nation. But the frequency with which these incidents are happening raise doubts and should be quickly dispelled," Naidu told reporters.
He said that keeping in mind the forthcoming Commonwealth Games -- which will be held in 2010 -- action should be initiated promptly to address these issues. Else, India's reputation would suffer at the international level.
The most recent incident at a Metro construction site in the NCR region was reported yesterday in which cracks were found in several pillars in Noida.
Earlier, cranes at a metro site had crashed and in another incident a section of a construction site had collapsed, killing six people.
All these incidents were reported within a span of one month.
