Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram organised the Justice Grover Memorial DPS Youth Congress Session 2008 in the memory of Late Justice A. N. Grover, former Chairman, DPSS. Principal Dr (Mrs) Shayama Chona welcomed Vinod Grover and Pramod Grover, sons of Late Justice Grover and eminent guests and judges.
The topic of the session was ‘Rage and Aggression in youth today - is there a solution?' which was depicted through skits, dance dramas, video and power-point presentations.
At the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest, Anil Divan, Senior lawyer, Supreme Court of India stressed on the need for the youth to redirect their rage and fight the demon of corruption. An English song was presented by the Western Choir group followed by a performance by the students of Anubhav Shiksha Kendra.
Winners DPS Noida were awarded the rolling trophy while Bluebells School International and DPS Dwarka came in the second and third respectively.
Tagore International School, East of Kailash conducted an inter school Science Symposium on the topic 'Globalisation for Environmental Sustainability'. The students presented Power Point presentations to explain the possibility of sustaining the environment with the combined effort of all world nations.
The event was judged by scientists Dr. Akhilesh Gupta and Dr. Arabinda Mitra who spoke about Greendex, the measurement of the sustainability level. Army Public School, Noida bagged the first prize followed by Sanskriti School and St Mary's School. Principal, Suman Nath congratulated the winners.
Sachdeva Public School, Pitam Pura organised a poetry extravaganza 'Rhyme and Rhythm' which included exciting competitions throughout the entire week. The themes varied from narrative to humorous and the selection of poems was 'powerful emotions recollected in tranquility'. A poetry writing competition was also organized for the students. The prizes were given away by Principal, Kiran Gambhir who praised all the participants and encouraged them.
Ryan International School, Greater Noida organised ‘The Ryan Scientific Milieu’ 08, a Science Exhibition which was graced by eminent dignitaries from premier management Institutes. The events included the exhibition of science models, a symposium and a Quiz. Principal, Sudha Singh addressed the gathering while the guests declared the event open.
Various schools participated and displayed innovative and creative models such as Meg-Live, Extracting Fuel from vegetables and Space City. They also made multimedia presentations on Nano-tech, Marine Science, Micro-organisms etc. The overall championship trophies were bagged by the host school, Ryan Intl., Bhondsi and Ryan Intl. Rohini.
