Five men were arrested for allegedly robbing unsuspecting train and bus passengers after befriending them on the pretext of sharing a ride in auto and drugging them with cold drinks laced with sedatives, police said on Wednesday.
Mansoor Alam, 28, Mukhtiyar, 36, Abrar, 24, Sabid, 26, and Anbir, 20 were arrested near the Old Delhi Railway Station at Kashmere Gate on Tuesday where they had come to dispose of the robbed booty, said Sanjay Kumar Jain, DCP (crime).
"All the accused hail from Kishan Ganj in Bihar and have been arrested more than twice earlier," DCP Jain said. Seven similar robbery cases have been worked out with the arrests.
According to police, one of the gang members would befriend unsuspecting passengers at railway stations and bus stops and lead the victim to his associates, who then drugged the person before robbing him.
