The shooting range in Gurgaon, a Commonwealth Games (CWG) venue, is in the news for the wrong reason, again. Gurgaon Police recovered 80 gm of poppy husk from a bus with the Organising Committee's (OC) technical staff aboard.

The driver, a CWG pass holder, was arrested under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was identified as Jaswinder Singh.

"The driver was held outside the Games venue which proves that security is tight. It was meant for personal use and he was arrested," Gurgaon Police Commissioner SS Deswal said.

Officials are, however, worried over the fact that the vehicle had a CWG sticker and an authorised OC pass.
"The bus came from a hotel in Sohna (Westin Hotel) with CWG technical staff. The dog squad alerted us during the security check. The drug was recovered near the bonnet," a senior police officer said.

Just two days ago, another driver was held at the venue with ganja (marijuana). Before these two arrests, a Haryana Armed Police (HAP) constable posted on Games duty was suspended for getting drunk.

"Extra forces were called in for CWG duties and the constable, Rajbir Singh, was a member of that force. He was posted near Gold Souk which lies on the route taken by Games delegates. After getting drunk, Singh entered into a scuffle with locals," a senior police officer said.
