In a case of alleged drunk driving, a 48-year-old man was killed after the Maruti Swift Dzire car he was driving crashed into a road divider near Savitri Cinema complex in Nehru Place.

Police said the victim was drunk and driving at high speed. The accident took place around 2am while the victim, identified as Prem, was going to his house in Sheikh Sarai. He worked at a hotel in Nehru Place.

A passer-by informed the police about the accident.

“A police team reached the spot and admitted the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” the officer said.

The victim’s post-mortem examination has been conducted. His body was handed over to his family on Thursday afternoon, the officer added. “A case has been registered at the CR Park police station and the vehicle has been impounded,” he said.
