A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus conductor suffered injuries on his face after he was attacked by a group of robbers who snatched his bag containing cash inside a moving bus in east Delhi’s Shakarpur on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the thieves robbed the conductor of his bag containing cash after attacking him with a blade. The incident took place around 10 pm inside a DTC bus on route number 740 plying between Uttam Nagar and Anand Vihar. The victim was identified as Govind. Enraged over the incident, DTC bus drivers and conductors staged a protest at the Hari Nagar bus depot late in the night and shouted slogans against the Delhi police and the state government for not providing security to bus staff. They were pacified by senior police officers, who assured of action.

A police officer said the DTC bus was heading towards Anand Vihar bus depot when a group of robbers boarded it near the Laxmi Nagar traffic signal. On the way, the robbers snatched the cash bag and attacked Govind when he resisted.
