Slots for/fees

Seats for 200-250 undergraduate students. Fee is Rs 26,000 a year.

Rooms
95 per cent of the rooms are double-seaters while some are three to four-seaters. No air-conditioning. “We need WiFi connections as well,” says Abhaya Acharya, a resident.

Bathrooms
There are three toilets and three bathrooms in each block. Fourteen people share three toilets. Each block has three bathroom cubicles.

Facilities
Common room: No air-conditioning but beautifully-constructed with LCD TV. CD and DVD player is also available. Movies are screened every weekend.
Medical care: “One sick room is under construction,” says Acharya.

Disabled-friendliness
There are special provisions for the disabled. “We have different concrete pavements for the visually-challenged. They are never left alone. There’s always a helper with them. We also have a braille notice board,” says Acharya.

Cleanliness
Hostel is clean.

Security
Curfew time: 8.30 pm
Rules for outsiders: 4-7 pm. Some restrictions for male visitors
Campus security: Guards are deployed

Food
Mess/menu: “We have a different menu everyday. While curry is served every Thursday, khichdi is served on Saturdays, egg curry on Fridays and chicken or sambhar on Wednesdays,” says Acharya.

Slots for/fees
Seats for 400 students; both men and women are admitted on merit. Fee is Rs 50,000 a year.

Rooms
Double-sharing for women in first year and second year. Third-year women get single rooms. Double-sharing for first-year male students and single rooms for second and third-year students. Attendance is also checked for second and third-year students for re-admission.

Bathrooms
Toilets are cleaned twice a day. There are six toilets per block. There are six bathrooms per block and they are cleaned twice a day.

Facilities
Common room: There are three common rooms for juniors, seniors and women, with TV sets. The timings are from 8 am to 10 pm.
Medical care: There is a college doctor and nurse on campus.

Disabled-friendliness
There are special provisions for the disabled. Mess is closer to their rooms and they can also choose their rooms.

Cleanliness
The hostel is neat and clean.

Security
Curfew time: 10 pm for both male and female residents.
Rules for outsiders: Outsiders are allowed. Women are not allowed in men’s blocks and vice-versa. Residents need permission for nightouts.

Food
Mess/menu: Non-veg (mutton, chicken or fish) is served six days a week. Kashmiri lunch is provided on occasions. Shouting across the tables is not allowed.
