Conducting Delhi University's Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) will be the responsibility of a private firm this year.
The test — conducted for admission to English (honours) in various DU colleges — attracted close to 10,000 applications last year.
"We engaged a private firm to help us with the exam last year as well but this year we have also given them the responsibility of selecting examination centres. The department will set the question papers and will also correct them. All the other activities are the responsibility of the firm we engage," said Tapan Basu, coordinator, CATE.
The department has already received tenders. "We will decide upon a firm next week, the specific details such as date and centres will be decided upon after the firm is finalised," Basu added.
Three tenders were invited for the exam. The first one is for firms to design, print, deliver and collect application forms and admit cards. The second is for designing and printing question and conducting tests while the third one is for preparation of the result.
