With only a few days left for the CBSE Class 12 Board exam results to be announced anxiety among students has been growing steadily.
Not only have stellar results become a point of concern for children, but it is also the race to get admission to a good college that has made students antsy about the upcoming results.
The Delhi University is also all set to open its gates for aspirants and the race to make it to the crème de la crème of the colleges affiliated to the university has the students all worked up.
Principals and teachers have urged parents to extend support to the children to avoid any untoward occurrences and keep their morale high.
"The attitude to get into only the best institution is ingrained in the child from the beginning. We have also worked with children and parents to ease the stress and provide career guidance. But parents need to be pre-emptive and help the child to deal with stress," said Ameeta Wattal, principal, Springdales School (Pusa Road).
If good students are worried about whether they will be able to make it to a prestigious college or not, the average ones are worried about their future course of action.
"Over 150 students have called to ask about the date of announcement of results. Anxiety has been steadily building up among the students because of the fact that if they don't make it to the so-called A-grade colleges, they will not be socially accepted. Also, students who have not performed well are unclear what to do next," said Abdul Mabood, who runs the helpline — SNEHI.
However, the CBSE remained non-committal over the date when the results will be announced. "We are yet to decide upon the date to release the results but most likely it will be within this week," said a CBSE spokesperson.
