In yet another relief for Delhi University aspirants, the School of Open Learning (SOL) has decided to bring out online application forms. SOL — the open learning platform of the Delhi University — attracted close to 1,25,000 students last year.
"It is a big step forward for SOL as we get applications from all parts of the country. We cater to a diverse set of students and want to make SOL accessible to everyone," said HC Pokhriyal, executive director, SOL.
The form will cost R50 and payment for the online form can be made through a credit or a debit card.
"State Bank of India has agreed to provide us with a payment gateway," Pokhriyal said.
With more than four lakh students on its rolls, SOL is the biggest component of the Delhi University. Its undergraduate courses are still running in the annual mode while the post graduate courses are in the semester mode.
SOL is usually preferred by students who want to work while they complete their studies. A large number of students who want to write exams for Chartered Accountancy take admission to BCom course at SOL. "This is a great move by the university. I have a lot of friends who are studying in SOL and they had to specially travel to Delhi to fill up their forms. This year, others can skip this trip at least," said Riddhi Mehta, who belongs to Shimla, but is studying in Delhi.
