If you drive into a petrol pump or a market complex and think it is Diwali already, it's not your fault.
In the Capital, it's festive season already and the festival is the Commonwealth Games.
The dolled-up petrol pumps across the city are turning heads everywhere, as are the markets.
"We have got a positive response from all those who come to the pump. They all say it looks very nice," said BK Chaudhary, manager of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited petrol pump near Khan Market.
The pump has been decorated with lights, blue and white coloured balloons, banners advertising the Commonwealth Games and Shera cut outs.
"The decorations will be up till the year end even after the Games. Festivals such as Diwali, Guru Nanak Jayanti and Christmas will be coming up and it makes sense to have these decorations," Chaudhary added.
Market places, especially in the central region, have also been decorated with lights and Shera cut outs.
At Janpath, the entire market has been lit up with blue lights. "Many people have appreciated the decorations and the cleanliness of the market," said Tony Chawla, executive member of the market association.
But there is one problem. There are no shoppers as was expected during the Games, which is affecting the business.
"The business is slower than what it used to be in previous years. Maybe it's the security threat. There are too little foreigners as well," Chawla said.
In Connaught Place, ushers have been placed outside various shops, urging shoppers to take a look at the products. Shera cut outs and posters have been placed at the market for the Games but the situation here is not too good either.
"Though the situation has improved a little after the renovation was completed, the response is still not as high as we expected. The sales are very slow,” said a member of the New Delhi Traders Association, who did not want to be named.
At Chandni Chowk, where refurbishment plans had failed to take off, the mood is similar.
